Full time, fixed term contract for 1 year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our teaching and learning team in the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick. This opportunity has arisen due to increasing student numbers and we currently have an entry cohort of over 200 students. We offer a range of degree programmes including BSc and Integrated Masters in Mathematics and Statistics, MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) and Data Science. We have a large percentage of international students and a capable and motivated student body – our standard entry requirements are A*AA including mathematics and further mathematics. We deliver around 60 modules ranging from first year mathematical techniques to masters-level advanced topics.

As Teaching Fellow, you will have a leading involvement in delivering problem classes, tutorials and computer practicals and grading assignments for undergraduate students. You will also contribute to a range of other teaching and learning activities, possibly including personal tutoring, outreach and open days. Up to 20% of your time will be allocated to personal professional development, for example to pursue a research programme in Statistics or a related discipline or for ongoing professional development of your pedagogical skills and knowledge.

Successful candidates will be highly motivated, with a good honours degree in a relevant subject, possibly a PhD, and experience of teaching small groups. You will have a sound understanding of Statistics and Mathematics at first and second year University level. Ability to teach the use of relevant software packages and programming languages is desirable. You will be enthusiastic and committed to delivering a high quality learning experience.

You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, aiding in the delivery and development of a busy teaching programme at Warwick. You will have excellent planning, time management and communication skills, and must be able to engage with and enthuse students during their learning experience in order to facilitate effective learning.

The Department of Statistics is committed to promoting equality and diversity, holding an Athena SWAN Bronze award which demonstrates this commitment. We welcome applicants from all sections of the community and will give due consideration to applicants seeking flexible working patterns, and to those who have taken a career break.
