Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Statistics, jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University, seeks two tenure-track assistant professors with expertise in statistics and data science. One of the positions will have a particular emphasis on sports analytics. The successful candidate will develop and sustain a high-quality and high-impact research program, successfully compete for external funding, and collaborate with world-class researchers at Iowa State in statistics and other disciplines. Further, the successful candidate will engage in professional and institutional service, teach graduate and undergraduate students, and advise graduate students in one of the first and largest statistics graduate programs in the country.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
• Foundational training in statistics and data science
• The ability to teach statistics and data science classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• The ability to develop and sustain a high-impact research program with the potential to secure external research funding
• The ability to contribute to Iowa State University’s growing strength in data science and sports analytics
