We invite applications for faculty appointments at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Statistics at the Department of Economics and Business to begin no later than September 2023.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or be near completion of their doctoral studies), and should have a demonstrated potential for research excellence in Statistics, Probability, Machine Learning or related fields. Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, research statement, submit a copy 1-2 papers with their most significant work and provide three letters of recommendation.

The Statistics and Probability group is part of the diverse Department of Economics and Business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, consistently ranked among the top European economics schools. The group has a strong expertise in research areas such as theoretical machine learning, graphical and network models, Bayesian inference, Malliavin calculus, high-dimensional inference and Econometrics, among others. Said research has been funded by research agencies in Spain, the UK and USA, as well as companies such as Google and Huawei. The group also leads the Data Science Center (https://datascience.bse.eu) and the Master’s Program in Data Science (https://bse.eu/study/masters-programs/data-science-methodology) at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). The BSE has won 3 consecutive Severo Ochoa awards for research excellence, and provides additional opportunities for funding and research-related activities.
Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish is not a requirement.
