Honorary Lifetime Membership
Honorary Life Membership is to be bestowed very rarely on senior individuals whose lifetime contributions to Bayesian analysis over several decades have substantially influenced the field in line with ISBA goals and mission.
Eligibility and Application Procedure
Honorary Life Membership is bestowed by simple Board resolution on a (very rarely encountered) case-by-case basis.
Dennis V. Lindley (2010)
The International Society for Bayesian Analysis, by resolution of the Board of Directors, confers Honorary Life Membership of ISBA on Dennis V. Lindley in recognition of his pioneering leadership and foundational contributions to Bayesian statistics and decision sciences.
Philip Dawid (2015)
The International Society for Bayesian Analysis, by resolution of the Board of Directors, confers Honorary Life Membership of ISBA on Philip Dawid in recognition of his deep contributions to the principles and theory of Bayesian statistics, including the axiomatisation of conditional independence, prediction, and causal inference, and for his influential interdisciplinary work in probabilistic expert systems, artificial intelligence, forensic statistics, and many other fields.
Sir Adrian F.M. Smith (2015)
The International Society for Bayesian Analysis, by resolution of the Board of Directors, confers Honorary Life Membership of ISBA on Sir Adrian F. M. Smith in recognition of his many fundamental contributions to Bayesian statistics, especially for the development of the hierarchical model and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods, and for his public service at the highest level.
