A post-doc position is available with the Department of Operational Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology via the ORISE program.
This is a development opportunity for a recent PhD graduate to (1) learn about the DoD research ecosystem, and (2) hone their own personal research agenda. Upon completion, participants will be well-prepared to apply for follow-on positions at, e.g., DoD labs, FFRDCs, or civilian universities.
The precise topic of research is flexible, but will be aligned with DoD focus areas. The ability to fashion a research thread autonomously (from unstructured requirements) is a development objective for this opportunity. Applicants are encouraged to discuss proposed topics within their submission documents (e.g., essay questions).
Start date is flexible; however, an ideal candidate would be able to begin in January 2027. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents. A demonstrated publishing record is also desirable.
