Candidate Statement 2023
It would be an honor to join the ISBA Board of Directors, and I am looking forward to serving with commitment and enthusiasm, if elected. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences at Bocconi University (Italy). Previously, I was a Ph.D. student and then a Post–Doctoral researcher in the Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Padova (Italy). During my Ph.D. experience, I have been also a Visiting Research Scholar (2014–2015) in the Department of Statistical Sciences at Duke University. My research interests include Bayesian modeling, methods and computation, with a particular focus on the analysis of complex network data and, more generally, on binary and categorical data.
Throughout these years I have been involved in several leadership roles, including, among others, Chair–Elect (2017) and Chair (2018) of the j-ISBA Section, Vice–Chair (2021) and Chair (2022) of the Blackwell–Rosenbluth award committee (j-ISBA and ISBA), member of the SBSS Laplace award committee (2018), member of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) committee on nominations (2020), and member of the Task Team to develop the ISBA Code of Conduct (2017–2018). Currently, I am also a member of the scienti c committee and of the sponsorship committee of the ISBA 2024 conference in Venice. In addition, I am serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Multivariate Analysis (since 2021), Biometrika (since 2019) and the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics (since 2018).
I have been proudly part of the Bayesian community since the beginning of my Ph.D. experience. The several ISBA conferences and meetings I attended over these years have been fundamental to expand my research interests, establish broader collaborations and meet new friends. For these reasons, I would be honored to contribute again to the society as a member of the ISBA Board of Directors.
