BNP Program Chair
Candidate Statement 2023
I am honored to accept the nomination for the position of BNP Section Program Chair. Currently, I hold the position of professor in Statistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. My research interests lie in the development of Bayesian parametric and nonparametric models, primarily in the context of applications in biology and medicine. My work has shown me numerous areas where Bayesian nonparametric (BNP) methods can be exceptionally valuable.

I have a track record of active involvement within our community, having previously served on the scientific committees for BNP 13 and O’bayes 2022. Currently, I am a member of the scientific committee for ISBA 2024. Additionally, I had the privilege of serving as the treasurer of the BNP section for the 2016/2017 term. I consider ISBA, particularly the BNP section, as my base camp, providing the necessary support, resources, and networking opportunities for my career.

If elected to the role of Program Chair, my commitment extends to promoting BNP methods across diverse disciplines and elevating the visibility of our field within the broader scientific community. Furthermore, I will strive to enhance the diversity of our section programs, ensuring a balanced representation of different sub-topics, genders, geographical regions, and seniority levels.
