Candidate Statement 2023
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the Nominating Committee for considering me as a candidate for the ISBA Board of Directors. Being a member of ISBA since my grad school days has been an awesome journey, and I'm super excited about the chance to step up.
I am currently an Associate Professor within the Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Padova, Italy, an institution steeped in history as one of the world's oldest universities, recently commemorating its first 800 years.
My research interests focus on developing and studying flexible, interpretable, and computationally tractable statistical models to solve modern applications. My fascination with Bayesian methods, particularly Bayesian Nonparametrics, was kindled during my doctoral years at the University of Padova. A pivotal experience was my time spent at Duke University's Department of Statistical Science, which deepened my engagement with this field. Over the years, I've actively participated in BNP conferences and ISBA world meetings, which have enriched my academic journey.
Recently entrusted with the leadership of the novel ISBA Sponsorship Committee, I'm deeply committed to supporting the society's endeavors. The Committee is actively working to find support for all the initiatives of our society with a specific focus on the upcoming ISBA World Meeting in Venice!
I am very eager to serve our society. I believe that it had a crucial role in my professional growth and thus, if elected, I’ll do my best to give in return my expertise, ideas, and enthusiasm. I look forward to collaborate with fellow board members to coordinate forthcoming initiatives.
