Objective Bayes Program Chair
Candidate Statement 2023
I am a Professor of Statistics at the Department of Methods and Models for Economics and Finance, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
I am delighted to run for the position of Program Chair of the Objective Bayes Section of ISBA and feel that in this role my enthusiasm and experience for Bayesian Statistics and for Objective Bayesian inference could be useful to the community.

My research interests include, from a theoretical perspective, some foundational issues, the development of formal conventional prior in parametric models and the use of copula representation of multivariate distributions. From a more applied perspective, I am interested in the popularization of Bayesian methods in Official Statistics and, more recently in sport analytics.
I have published papers in several mainstream journals, and I am co-author of a review paper on the use of priors in Objective Bayesian Analysis, appeared in Bayesian Analysis in 2018.
I have already covered the role of Program Chair in 2015-16 and I have vivid and beautiful memories of that period. I am pretty convinced that research in Statistics has experienced a significant change in the last years and debate between "objectivism" and "subjectivism" has evolved into the more challenging task of how to introduce the “correct” amount of extra-information into the extremely complex models we use today and obtain robust conclusions.
One of the main accomplishments of the Objective Bayes section is its bi-annual meetings. As a member of the Section I have attended almost all such meetings. I always had great time and I will do my best to continue this tradition.
Finally, I believe that regional Chapters are fundamental to the vitality of our society. I will seek the consolidation of existing ones and will foster the creation of new ones.
