Position Title/Affiliation
Associate Professor / Miguel Hernandez University, Spain
Position Being Sought 2023
EnviBayes Chair-Elect
Candidate Statement 2023
I am an Associate Professor at the Institute Mathematics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence (IMCIDIA) at the Miguel Hernández University in Spain. Let's say that where I feel comfortable is in multivariate species distribution modelling, but I also collaborate in other fields, such as the subject of sludge and composting, and recently in the field of extreme values and fish farms.

It was a pleasantly surprising moment to be invited to apply for the position of President of the ISBA EnviBayes Section. I am a member of EnviBayes from 2015 and would be delighted to be the Chair of the section.

While it's true that I haven't previously served in ISBA roles (I've been a member since 2006), I possess extensive management experience within the IBS (serving as the treasurer of the Spanish region and as a member of the Executive Board, and member of the Representative Council).

Given my experience, I would like to contribute to the EnviBayes section in two different ways. Firstly, my goal is to maintain the section's presence at ISBA World Congresses and, if possible, build upon the excellent work of previous Executive Boards, to enhance the section's relationship and presence at other world congresses, such as TIES, IBS, or the Statistical Ecology Congress (ISEC), where Bayesian contributions are on the rise.

Secondly, my goal is to promote the section's activities (as is already being done), aiming to reach a wider audience interested in Bayesian modeling of environmental processes and data. This can be achieved through various means, including courses, online presentations, and the creation of multimedia materials, among others.
