Bayesian Computation Chair-Elect
Candidate Statement 2023
I am honored to run for Chair-Elect for the ISBA Computational Section. I am currently a professor of Statistics at Texas A&M University, where I have been a part of the faculty since 2013. I have the experience of serving on Scientific Committees of past ISBA and BNP conferences. I have also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Statistical Association, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society (Series B), the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, Statistics & Probability Letters, and Sankhya.

Computational aspects of Bayesian statistics has always been a topic close to my heart, and has consistently inspired my research. During the past ten years as a faculty at Texas A&M University, I have received immense satisfaction in teaching fundamentals of Bayesian inference and its implementation to students at the undergraduate and graduate level. My vision as Chair-Elect will be to maintain the current upward momentum of the BayesComp-ISBA section, while exploring opportunities to continue its growth, especially attracting increased participation from users of Bayesian methodology outside statistics, and striving to improve gender and geographic diversity.
