Position description
The McGill University Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health and Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, invite applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Medicine [Tenure Track].

The McGill University Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is home to one of the largest concentrations of doctoral-level epidemiologists and biostatisticians, with internationally recognized research programs in topics such as Bayesian methods, big data, causal inference, risk prediction, privacy protection, spatial models, and clinical trials designs and methods. The Department is one of the top academic units for biomedical statistics in the world and offers a vibrant and inclusive research environment attracting diverse students, staff and faculty.

The McGill University Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine with over 480 Full-Time faculty in 15 Divisions. The Department’s educational and research missions support world class clinical and translational research across our main teaching hospitals: The McGill University Health Centre, the Jewish General Hospital and St- Mary’s Hospital. We host a Graduate Program in Clinical Translational Research that seeks to develop leading clinician scientists and PhD scientists. The Graduate Program currently has two streams (Experimental Medicine and Digital Innovation) with a planned third stream in Clinical Research.

Job Duties
The successful candidate is expected to:
• Develop an independent, externally funded research program of the highest international standards
• Successfully compete for research funding
• Supervise a diverse body of graduate students in both departments
• Contribute to formal teaching in the Master’s and PhD programs offered in both departments
• Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and other knowledge translation and exchange activities

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must have:
• a doctorate in biostatistics, statistics or related field; as well as significant post-doctoral experience
• relevant research experience in the development and application of methods for clinical research and large complex health-related data;
• a track record of research productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, the potential to develop an internationally recognized independent research program, a demonstrated ability to obtain grants for his/her own research, and to contribute to the building of successful research programs;
• a track record of successful and synergistic collaboration with clinician and PhD scientists in health research; A commitment to and evidence of high-quality teaching, inclusive pedagogy and effective supervision
• fluency in English, and a working knowledge of French or a commitment to acquiring it.
