The Department of Statistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2019. Responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses; graduate student advising; professional and institutional service; developing and sustaining a high-impact research program that can successfully compete for external funding; and participating in collaborative research with researchers in other disciplines. A significant portion of the teaching responsibility associated with this position will be in support of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences undergraduate program in Data Science.

Required: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline.
Preferred: Experience that demonstrates the ability to teach statistics classes at all levels and more general data science classes at the undergraduate level. Expertise in areas of statistical inference related to data science. Experience that demonstrates the potential to secure research funding, to carry out high-quality research in statistics, and to publish research results in top-tier journals. Experience that demonstrates the potential to participate in collaborative research efforts with researchers in other disciplines.

The doctoral program in Statistics is ranked as one of the top programs in the country and produces about 15 PhD graduates annually. The program currently has about 140 graduate students, 100 undergraduate majors, and 38 faculty. Further information about the department can be found at
