ISBA World Meeting 2024 – Privacy Notice

ISBA, INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR BAYESIAN ANALYSIS with registered office in Box 90251, Duke University, Durham NC, 27708-0251, located in the USA Tax/VAT No. 42-1517735 represented by President Aad Vand der Vaart, as Data Controller (“Data Controller” or “ISBA“), in accordance with art. 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”), provides you with information on the processing of your personal data you collected in this registration form necessary to participate at the 2024 ISBA World Meeting, which will take place in Venice from the 1st to the 7th of July (“Event“). You can cancel your registration for the Event at any time contacting the meeting organizers at isba2024@bayesian.org (see refund policy on the registration page). Your personal data will be deleted immediately.

 

  1. DATA PROCESSOR

The organization of the event was entrusted to Fondazione Ca’ Foscari with registered office in Dorsoduro – Ca’ Foscari, n. 3246 – 30123 Venice (VE), fiscal code and VTA number 03387580271, represented by Director General Dr Cristiana Rita Alfonsi, which will process your data as Data Processor (“Fondazione” or “Processor”).

The Processor has appointed a Data Protection Officer, who can be contacted by writing at the following email address: dpo.fondazione.cf@unive.it.

 

  1. CATEOGORIES OF PERSONAL DATA AND PURPOSE OF PROCESSING

By filling out the form, the Data Controller collects your personal data, such as:

  • Personal and contact data – information on first and last name, place and date of birth, social security number, address, telephone number, cell phone number as well as email address.
  • Payment data – bank details, credit cards, VAT number.
  • Other personal data – data related to their university and professional career (qualification, employment status, profession, field of work, Company or entity for which the person works), the ways in which he or she came to know about the topics of interest.
  • Image/Voice – information related to your image and voice collected through audiovisual filming tools.
  • Health-related data – The Data Controller may also collect and process special categories of personal data and in particular information related to your health, such as disabilities, intolerances, allergies.

 

Please note that your refusal to provide the mandatory data will preclude you the possibility of participating at the Event. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is represented by Articles 6.1.b) and 9.2. b) of the GDPR (“performance of a contract“).

During the Event, your images may also be collected or videotaped (collectively, “Images“), in order to carry out institutional and promotional communication activities. These may be published in brochures, posters, promotional materials in general, as well as on social media, and on the Data Controller’s and Processor’s websites (https://bayesian.org/ and https://www.unive.it/web/en/2208/home). The legal basis for such processing is Article 6.1.f) of the GDPR (“pursuit of a legitimate interest of the owner“). You may request the removal of the Images from the mentioned site or from the Data Controller’s or from the Processor’s website or their social writing at the following e-mail addresses isba2024@bayesian.org. If the Images have already been published in print or multimedia format, and you object to further broadcasting, they will no longer be included in the next reprint.

 

 

  1. RETENTION PERIOD

Your personal data related to the event will be stored for the period of the event and for 10 years maximum after its conclusion, solely in order to ensure the Data Controller defense in court. Otherwise, your Images will be kept for a maximum period of 5 years. When your personal data is no longer needed, or in any case at the end of the retention period, it will be irreversibly anonymized or securely destroyed.

 

  1. RECIPIENTS OF PERSONAL DATA

The processing of personal data will be carried out by the Data Controller staff in accordance with specific instructions provided by the Data Controller itself, with the use of computerized procedures, adopting appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect them from unauthorized or illegal access, destruction, loss of integrity and confidentiality, even if accidental in nature.

 

  1. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS

As a data subject, you have the right to obtain from the Data Controller, in the cases provided for by the GDPR, access to personal data, the correction, integration and cancellation of the data, the limitation of the data processing or you can object to the data processing itself. The request can be submitted by contacting the Data Controller directly at the following email address secretary@bayesian.org. If you believe that the processing of your personal data is carried out in violation of the GDPR, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority or to pursue legal action.
