The University of Texas McCombs School of Business invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship. The successful candidate will join the new Center for Enterprise and Policy Analytics (CEPA). CEPA’s core mission is to leverage leading research methodologies in data science to assess and inform policies impacting business and the economy.

The fellow will be a key member of the CEPA working group “Revealing Heterogenous Treatment Effects in Policy Research”. This group will catalog, benchmark, and develop cutting-edge statistical and machine learning methods for estimating heterogeneous effects in causal inference, focusing on the approaches most relevant for understanding and making public policy.

The fellow will work under the supervision of Professors Carlos Carvalho, Jared Murray, Jennifer Hill (NYU) and Avi Feller (Berkeley). It is expected that the fellow will be an active participant in shaping CEPA’s research agenda through activities such as planning seminars, conferences, and workshops.

While the position is housed in the McCombs School of Business, CEPA working groups will engage with other units on campus, including the Departments of Statistics, Economics, and Government, as well as the Schools of Education, Public Policy and Medicine. The fellow is encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations and build their research portfolio.

This is an one-year position with possible extension for a second year.

We encourage applications from candidates with a wide range of backgrounds; applicants should have recently completed a Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics or a related social science field (or expect to complete their Ph.D. by August 2017). Applicants should email Carlos Carvalho (carlos.carvalho@mccombs.utexas.edu) with a C.V., a brief statement of research interests and 3 names of potential references. Please use “Postdoc Application” in the subject line.
