The Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2012. Candidates in all areas of mathematics are encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to candidates with research interests that are interdisciplinary in nature. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics or closely related field and a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Postdoctoral experience in a secondary field is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to be able to interface and collaborate with faculty members in the schools of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the School of Engineering and Computer Science, and the School of Management at UTD.

The University of Texas in Dallas is a rapidly growing university with ambitious plans to advance innovative, interdisciplinary research and education in emerging areas of technology, science, and learning. The Department of Mathematics, which currently has 16 faculty, is planning to significantly increase its size by hiring several faculty with outstanding research records or potential and outstanding teaching records or potential.

Applicants will be judged on their potential ability to meet following standards:

The ability to conduct high-quality graduate and undergraduate teaching in topics that provide breadth to current areas of strength.
Outstanding research record or potential and the potential for acquiring external funding.
Potential for strong collaboration with faculty in other schools on joint research projects with external funding.
