I'm sorry to be posting to the whole list again. This message is for those who are interested and might wish to respond to my questions about the Higgs boson, or have already responded. Everyone else can hit the Delete button now.

I have had many responses to my questions and no doubt will have more. So I don't think I can do proper personalised replies to them all. Indeed I cannot even acknowledge many of them because I am getting responses through from the ISBA webmaster with no email addresses, and in some cases no indication at all of who has sent them. Similarly, the archive of replies in this thread on the ISBA website does not indicate who has posted them unless it is in the message itself. This seems to be a problem with how the mailing list is set up, and I've asked for it to be looked into.

So I will apologise in advance to anyone whose contribution I have failed to acknowledge. In a week or two I will post a synopsis of the arguments to news@bayesian.org. I will copy the synopsis by email to anyone who has contacted me directly, so that I have their email address.

Incidentally, I am delighted to have received a number of responses from physicists. Some of them take me to task for the provocative style of my original message. I know how important it is to respect the skills and expertise of people in other professions, but I also did want to generate discussion - in which objective I seem to have been successful. I am genuinely grateful to all those who have taken the time to give me the benefit of their knowledge and wisdom.
