Dear all, we are pleased to announce
BarCamp
In honor of the 150th anniversary of Politecnico di Milano, wewill host
a BarCamp for envisioning statistical models and methods that will have
an impact on the development of technology before the 175-th anniversary
of Politecnico di Milano. This 'unconference' will follow the 2013 SCo
meeting and will be a gathering of people who want to share and discuss
statistics and its influence on the technology of the future. The
sessions and content will be led by early career statisticians selected
from our competition.
We call on interested young (< 33 years) to envision statistical models
and methods that will have an impact on the development of technology in
the next 25 years.
To enter, competitors should submit to
barcamp.sco2013.competition@mate.polimi.it: an essay describing their
vision for statistics and technology in the future, a description of how
they will present their ideas (slides, poster, movie, artifact, etc) and
their CV. Group submissions are welcome. Each group will need to
nominate a coordinator and only the coordinator's CV needs to be
submitted. The authors of the 5 best proposals will be invited to lead
the main sessions of the BarCamp. In addition, the 5 winners will
receive travel support (up to 500 euros), conference registration, and
lodging. In the case of a group selection, the financial support will be
given to the group coordinator. Deadline for the competition:
*Submission closing: March 31st, 2013*
*Notification of winners: April 30th, 2013*
All competitors will be invited to present their proposals at the
BarCamp. The BarCamp is anyway open to all people interested in sharing
their ideas and stimulating new perspectives on statistics and
technology. Registration for the BarCamp is now open, is free of charge,
but necessary for organizational reasons. All the information on
